Infrared Sauna FAQ
General
Yes, infrared heat is completely safe. Unlike UV light, infrared does not cause sunburn or increase the risk of skin cancer.Infrared heat is considered so safe and gentle that have long been used in hospitals to help maintain body temperature in premature babies. However, people who are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or taking medications that affect heat tolerance should consult a healthcare professional before using infrared sauna.
For most people, 30 minutes is the recommended session length and provides the optimal balance of comfort and wellness benefits. This is also the standard session length offered by most infrared sauna facilities. If you are new to saunas or sensitive to heat, we recommend starting with a 20-minute session. While shorter sessions may result in less sweating and may not deliver the full range of benefits associated with a 30-minute session, they allow your body to gradually adapt to the heat. This can help minimise discomfort and reduce likelihood of temporary side effects such as headaches, dizziness, or overheating. For experienced sauna users who are comfortable with longer heat exposure, we also offer 45-minute sessions. These extended sessions are ideal for those who feel that 30 minutes is not enough and wish to enjoy a longer, more intensive sauna experience.
Our infrared sauna is typically preheated to around 55 Celsius degrees before your appointment. Just before your session begins, we increase the temperature setting to 75 Celsius degrees. This ensure the infrared heaters continue operating throughout your session, allowing you to benefit from ongoing infrared waves rather than simply sitting in a hot room. Unlike traditional saunas, the effectiveness of an infrared sauna comes not only from the air temperature but also from the infrared waves emitted by the heaters. By keeping the heaters active, you receive consistent infrared exposure for the entire session. We understand that everyone has a different level of heat tolerance, so we can adjust the sauna temperature to suit your needs:Beginners: We can preheat the sauna to 40-50 Celsius degrees, allowing your body to gradually adapt to the heat over your first few sessions.Regular users: Our standard preheat temperature is 55 Celsius degrees.Experienced sauna users: We can preheat the sauna up to 65 Celsius degrees for a more intense experience. Our goal is to provide a comfortable and enjoyable session while ensuring you receive the full benefits or infrared therapy. For beginners, we can preheat the sauna to 50 Celsius degrees for the first few sessions, to let your body slowly adapt to the heat. For advanced sauna users, we can preheat sauna to up to 65 Celsius degrees.
What you wear depends on whether you are using the sauna alone or sharing it with someone else.If you book a sauna session with another person, we kindly ask you to wear a swimming costume or light, breathable, cotton clothing. Please keep in mind that you will sweat during your session, so your clothing is likely to become wet. We recommend bringing a change of clean, dry clothes for maximum comfort afterwards. If you book a private sauna session for one person, clothing is entirely optional. Many clients choose to wear swimsuit, while others prefer not to wear anything at all. Infrared heat works most effectively when it can reach the skin directly, so minimal clothing may help maximise your comfort and infrared exposure. For privacy, the sauna room can be locked from the inside during your session. We also maintain strict hygiene standard by thoroughly disinfecting all sauna surfaces and replacing all towels on the bench and floor after every client.
We provide towels for all infrared sauna users. You'll receive dry towels to help wipe away sweat during and after your session, as well as refreshing wet towels to help cool down afterwards. We also provide a bathrobe for your comfort. The bathrobe is particularly useful if you need to step out to use the toilet during your session, or if you are combining a sauna and float session and prefer not to get fully dressed in between. At present, we do not include shower facilities with standard infrared sauna sessions. Many clients choose to wait before showering after an infrared sauna. As your body temperature remains elevated after the session, you may continue to sweat for around an hour while cooling down naturally. For this reason, some people prefer to delay showering until they have fully cooled down and stopped sweating. If you would like to shower after your sauna session, you have two options:Book access to our float room shower facilities for additional £15Book a float session after your sauna, which allows you to use the shower facilities in the float room before your float experience.
