Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Gosia — founder of Blissful Float Spa, childminder, mum of three - and someone who truly understands how overwhelming life can get.

Some of you in Kingston might remember me from running The Tanning Shop many years ago. After that chapter, I chose to step back and focus on what mattered most at the time—raising my children during their early years. Alongside that, I built a childminding business, which I truly loved. Being part of children’s growth, nurturing them, and making a positive impact on their lives has always been incredibly meaningful to me.

But as rewarding as it was, my days were full—busy, noisy, and often exhausting.
Anyone working with children will understand that feeling. Constant noise, sensory overload, always being needed. There was no real switch-off. Even after work, my own children kept me busy.

On top of that, since having my first child, I’ve struggled with back pain. Even standing for more than a few minutes resulted in pain. So I was dealing with both mental and physical exhaustion at the same time.

Everything changed with one simple birthday gift.

My husband surprised me with a floatation session. He knew I needed a break—a real one. Not just a moment to sit down, but true, uninterrupted calm.
I still remember that first float so clearly. At the beginning, I couldn’t relax at all—I was too curious, too excited. I even spent time taking selfies in the colourful lights inside the pod! Then I started wondering how I’d possibly manage a whole hour doing… nothing.

But eventually, I let go.
And that’s when I felt it—that deep, full-body relaxation I hadn’t experienced in years. I felt calm. Properly calm.
My tensed body relaxed, my mind went quiet—and for the first time in a long time, I felt truly recharged. And my back—finally had a break from constant pressure!

That one session was powerful—but what really convinced me was what happened next.
I kept floating.

And with each session, the benefits became clearer and more consistent:
• I slept better
• I felt calmer and less overwhelmed
• I had more patience and energy for my family and work
• I could think more clearly and handle stress more easily

That’s when I realised something important: floating works best when it’s done regularly.
It’s not just a one-time escape—it became my way to support my mind and body on an ongoing basis.

The idea for Blissful Float Spa came from one simple frustration—there was nowhere local to continue this practice.
So I decided to change that.

After scaling down my childminding business, I took the leap to create a space right here in Kingston—a calm, welcoming sanctuary where anyone can experience the same benefits I did, and make floating part of their routine.

I know firsthand how easy it is to put yourself last. But I also know how life-changing it can be when you take even one hour to reset properly.
That’s why Blissful Float Spa exists.

Today, I’m running Blissful Float Spa, continuing my childminding business, working around 70h a week without days off, constantly solving problems, and even when not working, I spend late evenings posting content, replying to emails, and thinking of new business strategies, all while dealing with my back pain and social anxiety. And in between all of that—raising three children and trying to be present for them.
I'm able to do all of it without burning out.

Not because life is less busy, not because I found a perfect life-work balance, but because I’ve found a way to reset regularly.
A way to step out of the noise, even just for an hour, and come back clearer, calmer, and able to handle everything better.
Floating and infrared sauna became that tool for me.

It’s not about escaping life—it’s about being able to show up for it in a better way.

That’s why I created Blissful Float Spa here in Kingston. Because I know there are so many people just like me—managing so much behind the scenes, and quietly running on empty.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, overstimulated, or you just can’t fully switch off… I understand.
And I want you to know there’s a way to feel different.

Benefits of the floatation therapy
Floating effectively reduces stress, as it cuts off all external stimuli and allows you to dissolve in a state similar to meditation, which effectively regulate your nervous system. It lowers blood pressure and the level of stress hormones: adrenaline and cortisol. It activates parasympathetic nervous system, which gets you out of "fight or flight" response while your breathing and heart rate slow down. It stabilizes the functioning of the endocrine system. It activates the secretion of endorphins, which puts you in a great mood and bliss. It stimulates the brain to release theta waves, characteristic of the meditation state. Theta waves also reduce stress, increase creativity, accelerate the learning process, awaken intuition and extrasensory perception, and integrate the mind and body. All this makes a floating session the best way to completely calm your mind and eliminate stress.
The more you float, the stronger your parasympathetic nervous system gets, as you train it by activating it each time you float. Regular floating can train your nervous system to easily return to a state of calm during stressful moments. Once your nervous system gets stronger, you relax easier and faster, you are able to approach your life with greater resilience and recover from stressful events quicker.
Sleep and insomnia
Float Therapy has been proven in several studies to both improve the quality of your sleep and reduce the time it takes to nod off, by activating a parasympathetic nervous system and reducing cortisol. A study by Fine and Borrie into effects of floatation on psychology, revealed that 65% of subjects reported improvements in sleep quality. A 1993 study by Ballard found that 4 floatation sessions provided statistically and clinically significant improvements in how quickly subjects could fall asleep. Floating activates your parasympathetic nervous system and reduces cortisol which has been shown to create a pathway for deeper, more restorative sleep.
If you are low in energy and feel as if you are not getting enough sleep, a one-hour floatation session removes the need to process external stimuli so all your bodily resources can be redirected to rest and recovery. This leaves you feeling not only calm and relaxed of mind, but rejuvenated in body. A one-hour floatation session has been said to provide the same benefits as 4 hours' sleep.
Pain relief
While Epsom Slat / magnesium sulphate provides magnesium absorption and anti-inflammatory proprieties, the effect of zero gravity offers significant pain relief. When you immerse yourself in a float tank, the absence of gravitational pressure allows your body to feel almost weightless, alleviating the stress and strain typically placed on your joints or trapped nerves - if you've ever floated in a tank, you know that it almost feel like you have no body at all! It's very helpful for dealing with conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia and sciatica. You don't need to know how to swim. The high concentration of Epsom Slat will make you float effortlessly. It decompresses your spine; which is provides excellent relief for back pain.Floatation relieves muscle tension, combats stiffness in the joints, and enhances flexibility. It also promotes improved blood circulation by dilating blood vessels and reducing vascular inflammation.Floatation also accelerates recovery from physical exertion, strains and injuries by reducing inflammation, increasing blood flow, which aids healing process by delivering essential nutrients and oxygen to the injured tissues while removing waste products, and by relaxing tight muscles surrounding the injured area, which relieves tension and spasm.
Improved sport performance
for athletes
Rest in a floating cabin is an excellent regeneration for athletes - both amateurs and professionals. Did you know that the Australian Institute of Sport included floating sessions in the Olympic preparation program in 1983? Carl Lewis, one of the most outstanding and titled track and field athletes in the world, used a session in a floating cabin while preparing for the Olympic starts. Now you can take advantage of this unique regeneration - cleanse your body and mind of tension, muscles - of lactic acid and toxins and get rid of pain.
Another considerate benefit of float therapy is increased blood flow and oxygenation , which aids the healing process after injury or exercise.
Float therapy can also improve joint mobility and flexibility through increased range of motion. The weightless experienced during floating allows athletes' joints to move freely, increasing mobility while reducing inflammation around sore joints; this means less stiffness when exercising.
Athletes can obtain a broader range of motion by lowering tension and increasing relaxation in the joints and muscles. This is exceptionally advantageous for athletes who engage in sports like football, basketball, or soccer that require a quick change of direction and where injuries such as ankle sprains are common.
